About this event

We are excited to invite you to this month’s virtual SEC Climate Rules Webinar, sponsored by the Idaho CleanTech Alliance on Wednesday, June 22nd from 11:00am to 12:00pm MST (10:00am – 11:00am PST)! This webinar will take the place of the June Sustainability Happy Hour.

This month, we will dive into the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) newly proposed rules (announced on March 21, 2022). The SEC’s draft rules flag climate change as a global threat to corporate profitability and would require publicly traded companies to disclose climate risk, in addition to other financial risks that support investors in assessing investment options.

Many companies already make these disclosures. Sustainable investing continues to attract large amounts of capital as investors want to contribute to positive change and advocate for better corporate governance. According to Bloomberg, “assets under management (AUM) that are invested globally in sustainability funds and portfolios could reach $53 trillion by 2025, accounting for more than one-third of projected total AUM of $140.5 trillion.”

Investors are demanding these disclosures as it helps them understand how the companies they invest in are prepared for the impacts of climate change and the actions they are taking to mitigate climate change.

Ty Colman, co-founder of Optera, and Amber Bieg, MBA with Warm Springs Consulting, will explore the ins and outs of the new draft SEC rules. They will examine what happens if the rules are adopted, how companies benefit from engaging in the disclosure process, clear pathways for meeting the disclosure requirements, and then answer questions from the audience.

This event will take place virtually on Zoom. We look forward to seeing you there!
