Warm Springs Consulting and Sprout Energy was hired in 2019 to develop a Sustainability Roadmap to guide Perpetua Resources to higher environmental performance, lower energy costs, and better community relations throughout the lifetime of the Stibnite Mine project. The historic mining site, located in the headwaters of the South Fork of the Salmon River, presents many concerns due to the surrounding ecosystem.
We created a comprehensive roadmap focused on key areas relevant to the Stibnite site, including: GHG emissions and climate risk, energy and storage, water, waste, dark sky planning, and community engagement.
The consulting team analyzed both productive and nonproductive operations to develop long-term sustainability goals and reporting procedures to reach beyond-compliance outcomes. The team identified multiple avenues to mitigate climate risk, reduce energy costs, reduce water consumption and waste production, as well as facilitate meaningful stakeholder and community engagement. Strategies included recommendations for: energy retrofits, alternative equipment options, water and & waste management plans, and multiple scenarios aimed at reducing Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions.
Warm Springs Consulting and Sprout Energy further supported Perpetua Resources by providing guidance throughout the ESG reporting process. Support included GHG emissions auditing and developing policies that aligned with Perpetua Resources’ ESG goals. We will continue to provide adaptive, expert consulting services as the project goes on and new challenges arise.
